Music in the Glen

Diane Daly has developed an innovative music programme for children that increases the effectiveness and fun of learning an instrument whilst reducing the cost.

The concept takes young children from the first musical steps of pre-instrumental Music and Drama sessions on to Beginner Strings, and then Next Step strings which includes the option of moving from violin to viola or cello, as well as learning to play chamber music and in a chidren's orchestra.

The programme draws on Diane's own experience as a teacher and performer as well as aspects of the Dalcroze, Kodaly and Sheila Nelson methods. A sense of fun underpins the classes and games are used to help improve various aspects of technique.

The classes have been running in Killaloe, Co. Clare for two years and in September 2009 the programme expanded to include Saturday Sessions at the Irish Chamber Orchestra's state-of-the-art studio at the University of Limerick. The classes are open to ages 4-11. To find out more call Diane Daly on 086 883 0085 or email musicintheglen@ftml.net.
